I'm loving living in my studio! As you can see, it has evolved in the few months since I've moved in. I've made few changes in the layout except for adding a funky, rustic shelf that effectively separates the kitchen and provides an entry into the apartment. I've hung a coat hook beside the door and voila! I no longer walk straight into the kitchen (a Feng Shui no no) and better yet, I do not see the kitchen from my bed. I also stitched up some unbleached (white) burlap curtains for the areas which need them. I love their rustic simplicity and the way they filter the light. I have divided the space (650sq ft) into two, distinct spaces - kitchen/studio - which includes an easel for painting, my office and a small library besides the cooking and eating area, and relaxing/sleeping room. Mainly I've concentrated on really organizing my storage options so that the space is totally multi-functional. I've had a couple of dinner parties here for up to eight people - the drop leaf green table pulls out for more seating and extra chairs are pulled into service from the balcony. Right now the plants are sharing the space for the winter and they too, seem to have adjusted to new surroundings quite well! Thank you for all your comments! I'll try to post more often now that I'm back in a groove. Have a lovely weekend.

Loving Small Living

Have a pleasant weekend!
After college, I want to live in a studio as well! I never liked anything too fancy like a high tech apartment. You made your place look so cozy.
Very cozy rooms and so much sunlight! I am inspired!!!
hi dear, wonderful post and
picture. beautiful-travelling places
This is beautiful!
The house is so sweet and nice.
omg! I loved this house... it's simple but it's so relaxing at the same time. ;p
Thank you for this blog. I have just discovered it. I love the photos of your living space in Taos. Have wanted to visit there for about ten years. Once I spent a few days in Santa Fe, but never got to Taos; my East Coast life doesn't seem to provide any opportunities to get there, but maybe someday.
A room with living plants is truly elegant. This gives calmness and relaxation to the mind.
I LOVE the looks of this new place...you have always had a knack for making a place look homey, artistic, a little bit wonderfully primitive-

I absolutely love your studio. One day when I have no children at home I hope to live small like this but for now we live big in a four bed 2 bath home. It's very spacious and comfy but I remember my smaller houses and there's just something about living small and simple that is comforting to me. I love the way you've set everything up.

thanks all! i'll be back with a new post soon!
Although I found your blog randomly it spoke to me and my situation..I decided to save and subscribe to it :) I love what you have done to your small spaces to make them a beautiful home! Very informative articles and tips!
I am trying to gather the courage to leave my living situation which is stifling to my soul and no longer stable.. More than likely, any affordable place I find to move into is going to present many challenges as far as space goes, but I will look forward to decorating and calling it my own!
